State now requires training related to sexual harassment

All faculty and staff should have received an important email about new training related to sexual harassment. This training, required by the State of Illinois at least annually, is in addition to the federally required “Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Violence” training program. The training required by the state must be completed by Oct. 1 and must be completed by all faculty, staff and student employees. The University Ethics Office is available to provide leadership on ethics-related matters and ethical behavior in the workplace at SIU. Full story


Guidelines for complying with Pepsi MidAmerica contract 

SIU Carbondale has a contract with Pepsi MidAmerica through October 2022 giving them exclusive pouring rights on our campus.  Pepsi MidAmerica has the exclusive right to display, advertise, and promote beverages on campus and in connection with the university. The partnership created a financial opportunity for the university to increase its commitment to support student scholarships. Full story


Community Engagement Fair is Sept. 5 

Faculty and staff are encouraged to remind students of a Community Engagement Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 5, in the Student Center’s first floor art gallery. Approximately 20 non-profit community partners will be available to talk to students, educate them about the organizations and their missions, and also what students can do to help as volunteers. ‘First Thursdays’ lecture to look at virtual reality and photogrammetry 

Reid Perkins-Buzo, assistant professor in the Department of Radio, Television, and Digital Media, will present a lecture Sept. 6 on virtual reality storytelling and the practical art of photogrammetry. Full story
