Community Engagement Fair is Sept. 5
Faculty and staff are encouraged to remind students of a Community Engagement Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 5, in the Student Center’s first floor art gallery. Approximately 20 non-profit community partners will be available to talk to students, educate them about the organizations and their missions, and also what students can do to help as volunteers.
The Center for Service Learning and Volunteerism sponsors the event, and this is an opportunity for students to become involved within the community. In several instances faculty ask that students complete a service component as part of their course curriculum.
The fair helps students make better decisions on where they would like to volunteer. Students may come to the event casually dressed, and the fair is open to any student who is interested in volunteering.
Some of the agencies scheduled to attend include:
- African-American Museum of Southern Illinois
- Alzheimer’s Association
- American Red Cross
