Interactive SIU Fact Book is available online
The university’s Institutional Research and Studies and Information Technology offices recently released the new SIU Interactive Fact Book.
Utilizing Tableau software, Institutional Research and Studies staff will be able to curate information about SIU Carbondale in real time, providing a self-service tool for adminstration, faculty, staff, researchers, students, and others who need factual information about the university to access the most current available facts.
The fact book will allow users to quickly and easily review, compare, and analyze data such as faculty, staff, and student demographics, financial, enrollment and retention information, and more. Users will be able to find and compare targeted data, and receive results in a table or spreadsheet along with graphics.
The Institutional Research team developed easy-to-use interfaces to help users construct information “queries,” which are created based on each user’s unique input. From this input, the system generates a unique and customized online “dashboard” to view the information. Variables to select data can be changed easily, and the new dashboard is regenerated in seconds. Information in the dashboard can be downloaded and/or printed in tabular or graphical form.
