SIU named a Princeton Review 2023 Green College

SIU Carbondale has once again earned national attention for its commitment to sustainability, earning a spot in The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2023 Edition. Just 455 institutions of higher learning across the country were recognized.


Sarah VanVooren will take on new role as SIU’s director of events and conferences

Sarah VanVooren, a double alumna of SIU Carbondale who has served the university in a number of roles, most recently as associate director of conference and scheduling services, will be the new director of events and conferences, beginning Nov. 1.


Mandatory Ethics Act training deadline is today 

SIU Carbondale faculty, staff, graduate assistants, undergraduate assistants, volunteers, student workers and extra help workers are reminded that the deadline for the mandatory 2022 annual ethics act training is today, Oct. 31. The training is located on the D2L platform. School of Medicine employees on the Carbondale campus will complete training using HealthStream.


SIU’s Paul Simon Institute to host New York Times’ chief European business correspondent in webinar 

Liz Alderman, the chief European business correspondent for The New York Times, will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute for a virtual conversation at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7.


Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge schedule for November 

The November schedule of the Chancellor’s Faculty-Staff Lounge at Old Main includes anti-racism, diversity, equity and inclusion and Information Technology’s “Let’s Talk Tech.”


WSIU to hold free film screening on Sunday 

WSIU Public Broadcasting and the Carbondale Public Library will hold the first of four Indie Lens Pop-Up film screenings at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, with the film “Move Me.” The free screening is at the Carbondale Public Library, 405 W. Main St.
