JALC and SIU leaders to sign Saluki Step Ahead agreement

SIU Chancellor Austin Lane and John A. Logan College President Kirk Overstreet will sign a Saluki Step Ahead agreement providing a more seamless entry into several SIU online programs on Tuesday, Nov. 30. The agreement is the latest of several pacts between SIU and several community colleges throughout Illinois since September.

Conversation on sustaining and expanding an antiracist system is Wednesday

A Conversation of Understanding discussion this week will look at sustaining and expanding antiracist initiatives throughout the Southern Illinois University campuses. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are invited to join the live virtual discussion at noon Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Faculty-staff appreciation coffee is Tuesday 

A faculty-staff appreciation coffee is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the Student Center’s International Lounge prior to the university recognizing employees for their service and commitment and honor retiring employees at 10 a.m. in the Student Center Ballrooms.

SIU hosts annual Holiday Craft Sale Dec. 2-4

Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s 43rd annual Holiday Craft Sale offers a great opportunity to find that perfect gift for someone special or a treat for yourself. The three-day event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2-3 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 4. The sale takes place in the Student Center’s Art Gallery and Renaissance Room, located on the first floor.

‘Hay Fever’ brings drama, hilarity to McLeod Theater stage

Be prepared to take a trip back in time and discover that not much has changed between family lifestyles from the mid-1920s and a century later when “Hay Fever” hits the McLeod Theater stage, Dec. 2-5.

Supplemental retirement plans university availability notice 

This notice contains some general information related to SIU Carbondale’s supplemental retirement 403(b) plans and the State of Illinois’ deferred compensation 457(b) plans. The plans are a supplement to the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) pension.

Reminders on payroll, W-2 forms

Human Resources-Payroll wants to remind employees who are responsible for entering or reporting time or sending paperwork, that December is a short month for running all of the necessary payrolls. Please pay attention to run dates on the December calendar so that everyone is paid correctly on their designated pay date. Please note that all payrolls will be run in advance of the university’s holiday closure, which begins on Dec. 24.
