Ceremony, reception to recognize service, retiring employees

The university will recognize current employees for their service and commitment and honor retiring employees during a ceremony and reception Nov. 30 in the Student Center Ballrooms. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. A faculty-staff appreciation coffee from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the International Lounge precedes the recognition ceremony.


SIU engineering and computer science programs recognized by U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report is including SIU Carbondale on its “Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs,” “Best Engineering Graduate Programs” and “Best Computer Science Graduate Programs” for 2022.


SIU Foundation Board offering faculty research grants

Applications are being accepted for grants in support of faculty research and creative activity from the SIU Foundation Board. The board is providing $75,000 for projects focused on innovation, leadership and student success. The proposal deadline is Jan. 14, 2022.


First African American Ivy League university president to discuss importance of HBCUs

Ruth Simmons, president of Prairie View A&M University and the first African American to serve as president of an Ivy League university, will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute in a virtual discussion next week.


SIU Today holiday schedule 

SIU Today is taking a holiday on Thursday, Nov. 25, in observance of Thanksgiving. SIU Today will return on Nov. 29. The last issue before winter break will be Dec. 9. SIU Today will then resume in January.
