Shawnee Community College, SIU leaders sign Saluki Step Ahead agreement

Shawnee Community College and Southern Illinois University Carbondale formalized a historic agreement on Sept. 17, to provide qualified community college students who are place-bound the option to earn their bachelor’s degrees remotely and at a lower cost. Through Saluki Step Ahead, community college students who earn their associate degrees can go on to complete their SIU bachelor’s degrees online while still living in their hometowns. SIU recently signed an agreement with the Illinois Community College Board, which represents all 48 community colleges in the state to provide similar services.


Family Weekend will offer fun for all ages

Saluki Family Weekend 2021 is coming to campus Friday through Sunday, Sept. 24-26, offering a variety of special memory-making events and activities for students, their families and the community.


International Guitar Festival offers concerts, workshops and classes

Sounds of music for all to enjoy once again will fill the air this week as the SIU Carbondale International Guitar Festival returns for a seventh edition, beginning Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 22-23.

Health care executive to discuss leadership Sept. 25
