SIU nutrition and diet expert shares tips for healthy eating, even during a pandemic

One of the most popular New Year’s resolutions is to lose weight. Compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and other stresses, people are dealing with a lot, resulting in a common complaint of packing on a few extra pounds. Dawn Null, an assistant professor of human nutrition and dietetics and registered dietitian, said there are a number of easy techniques we can use to stay healthy – or get healthy.  


Conversation about COVID-19, its racial implications and the SIU System is Tuesday

Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members from across the SIU System are invited to join a live virtual conversation next week about the COVID-19 pandemic, its racial implications and the impact on the SIU community. The panelists will also discuss testing and treatment, as well as related directions for faculty, staff and students for the spring 2021 semester.


Reminder: SIU cloth masks are available for faculty, staff

Faculty and staff have the opportunity to get SIU cloth masks as long as supplies are available.

International Criminal Court work highlighted in upcoming virtual lecture 

An international law professor will discuss the impact of sanctions imposed by the Trump Administration against the International Criminal Court during virtual presentation Sunday. The lecture is co-sponsored by the SIU School of Law.


Brookings Institution’s president will discuss nation’s foreign policy challenges

Retired diplomat and four-star U.S. Marine Corps Gen. John R. Allen, president of the Brookings Institution, will discuss foreign policy challenges facing the United States during a virtual discussion next week hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.
