Nutrition and dietetics programs earn maximum continuing accreditation 

Both the undergraduate and graduate human nutrition and dietetics degree programs recently earned the maximum eight-year extension on their accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Each program also has logged some impressive statistics, including exam pass and internship placement rates of up to 100%, in recent years.

National security expert Eliot Cohen will discuss U.S. foreign policy tomorrow

Eliot A. Cohen, an author, political scientist and former senior Department of State official, will offer his thoughts on the political and national security challenges facing the nation during a virtual discussion Tuesday hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.

SIU Community Dental Center open and offering December special

The SIU Community Dental Center is open, seeing patients and offering a December special: new patients get an examination and X-rays for $50. The full-service office provides preventive and restorative dental care to students, faculty, staff and community members. 

Microsoft Teams for Education introductory sessions are set

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is rolling out Microsoft Teams for Education to the campus in December and can provide support to help faculty incorporate this unique toolset to support digital classroom environments and academic activity. Introductory sessions will be held Dec. 9 and Jan. 7.

Alumni Association seeking award nominations

The SIU Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award and other honors that will be bestowed next spring. The nomination deadline is Dec. 15.

Virtual SIU theater senior showcase set for Dec. 5

Eleven SIU Carbondale graduating seniors have collaborated to honor the Class of 2021 with an online showcase at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 via YouTube.
