SIU Aviation adds five new planes

As enrollment in the university’s nationally recognized aviation program continues to climb, the number of airplanes to train students is also growing. The program gained five new Cessna 172S flight training airplanes, each with state-of-the-industry technology.

Southern Illinois Family Information Night set for Tuesday

The university is reaching out to prospective students and their families in our own region at Southern Illinois Family Information Night at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 via Zoom. SIU Chancellor Austin A. Lane and other university officials will discuss how students will get a premier, hands-on education at SIU and may conduct research often reserved for graduate students.

REACH Awards competition applications start Dec. 7

Faculty may wish to encourage full-time SIU Carbondale undergraduate students to apply for the 2021-22 Research-Enriched Academic Challenge (REACH) award competition, starting Dec. 7. The application deadline for students to submit proposed projects is Jan. 29. The faculty deadline for recommendation forms and letters of support is 5 p.m. Feb. 5.

Multi-factor authentication instructional video is available

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is urging faculty and staff to enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) before the end of the semester. A new video explains MFA in simple terms.

‘Diversity and Inclusion Monthly’ published

The November issue of “Diversity and Inclusion Monthly” is available from Office of Associate Chancellor for Diversity. This month’s issue includes information on upcoming Native American Heritage Month events, a discussion between Stephanie Bennett and Cara Doerr of the College of Health and Human Sciences Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and profiles of Katya Saldana, a senior in cinema and photography, and McCall Logan, a graduate student who also teaches classes in women, gender and sexuality studies.
