Great events fill a busy calendar

The spring semester is in full swing, which means this is SIU’s busiest time. There are more events planned on campus than I can keep track of, including theater productions, musical performances, lectures and more. Activist and civil rights leader Charles Neblett to receive honorary degree 

During a time when many newspapers refused to carry the truth of segregation, violence and inhumane acts against people of color, “The SNCC Freedom Singers” took to the streets to spread their message. In honor of his remarkable work as a civil rights activist and leader, founding member Charles Neblett will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters during May 11 commencement ceremonies.
