Nominations open for Student Employee of the Year

Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit nominations for the university’s 2019 Student Employee of the Year. Student employees make valuable contributions to the university throughout the year. The nomination deadline is Feb. 18. Full story


Variety of international films highlight ‘Film Fridays’ this semester 

“Film Fridays,” presented by the Department of Cinema and Photography, will feature seven free films beginning Friday. The film screenings all start at 4 p.m. and will be shown in a new venue this semester, French Auditorium in Lindegren Hall. Full story


Get tickets now for SIU’s popular Maple Syrup Festival 

You can experience the process of turning fresh maple sap into a tasty treat and enjoy the sweet treat atop pancakes during a festival filled with activities indoors and out Feb. 23 and 24 at Touch of Nature Environmental Center. One-act comic opera, “Amelia Goes to the Ball,” will have you rolling in the aisles 

Opera and art come together for two nights of fun as the university’s Opera Ensemble presents “Amelia Goes to the Ball” at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday, at Carbondale Community Arts ArtSpace Gallery. The 1930s classic, lighthearted comedy will have you rolling with laughter as Amelia faces a variety of struggles on her way to an important dance. Performances are free. Full story

The Department of Public Safety’s February 2019 issue of the ‘Saluki Watch Dawg’ is available. This month’s edition includes a campus community survey, personal safety tips, a reminder about available educational crime prevention programs and services, and Polar Plunge and Donut Dash 5K information.
