Moving forward on a new academic structure

On Tuesday, the Faculty Senate took another step forward in the revitalization of our academic structure. While there are important steps still ahead of us, I’m pleased that through this collaborative process, our re-envisioning of our academic programs is beginning to take shape.

 

McNair Scholars will present work July 20

Twelve undergraduate students in a program that prepares them for careers in research will present their work at the 15th annual McNair Summer Research Symposium next week.


Cinema student’s film is 2018 PBS Online Film Festival finalist

What began as a foundational film production class assignment for cinema student and filmmaker Kelechi Agwuncha is earning national recognition. 


Understanding Tolkien’s invented language: professor to give pre-show lectures before ‘The Hobbit’ performances

In connection with the Stage Company’s presentation of “The Hobbit,” Jeffrey Punske, linguistics, will be giving two pre-show lectures on J.R.R. Tolkien’s invented language, which is seen in the popular works such as “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit.”


Simon Institute details recommendations to improve political town hall meetings

The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute is making recommendations to improve congressional town hall meetings in Illinois.
