Green Fund Grant applications are open for SIU Carbondale faculty, staff and students. Now in their 23rd round, the grants are part of SIU’s ongoing commitment to campus sustainability. The deadline is March 23.

Conversation of Understanding will look at Black history challenges

A Conversation of Understanding at noon today (Feb. 19), will explore how Black history, heritage and contributions continue to be challenged and, in some cases, actively diminished in public discourse, federal spaces and educational policies.


Sharp Museum hosts documentary on New Deal artwork Friday

Sharp Museum will host a documentary by filmmaker TG Jamroz on Friday, Feb. 20, as part of a reception for a new exhibit, “For The People: The Federal Art Project and SIU.” 


Volunteers sought for World Languages and Cultures Day

Volunteer opportunities are available for faculty, staff and students who would like to help show off SIU Carbondale during World Languages and Cultures Day on March 19. The program is from 8:30 a.m. to noon in various locations in the Student Center.

SIFest receives National Endowment for the Arts grant

SIU Carbondale is receiving a $20,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to help with this year’s programming for the nationally recognized Southern Illinois Music Festival.


SIU honors alumnus Dr. Melvin C. Terrell with special collection, atrium dedication

SIU alumnus and nationally respected scholar-practitioner Melvin C. Terrell was honored earlier this month with the unveiling of the Dr. Melvin C. Terrell Special Collection in Morris Library and dedication of an atrium and portrait in Faner Hall.


Saluki basketball, baseball and swimming highlight week 

The Saluki women’s basketball team hosts the University of Northern Iowa at 6 p.m. today (Feb. 19) at Banterra Center. The Saluki men’s basketball team hosts Indiana State on Senior Night, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at Banterra Center, while the Saluki baseball team opens its 2026 home schedule against Miami (Ohio) at 3 p.m. Feb. 25 at Itchy Jones Stadium. The men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams compete in the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, Feb. 25-28, in Evansville, Indiana. Be sure to check team schedules at siusalukis.com.
