Volunteers sought for World Languages and Cultures Day
Volunteer opportunities are available for faculty, staff and students who would like to help show off SIU Carbondale during World Languages and Cultures Day on March 19. The program is from 8:30 a.m. to noon in various locations in the Student Center.
This year’s theme is “50 Years of Learning, 250 Years of Belonging: SIU World Languages and Cultures Day,” marking the event’s 50th anniversary. This year, more than 1,200 high school students from 18 high schools are already registered for a variety of energetic programs that focus on world languages, cultures and how language works. This year, there is also a poster contest for students based on the theme, along with numerous interactive sessions in the international lounge between 10 a.m. and noon.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles including greeting, check-in, session seating, guiding high school students to sessions and more. Volunteers will be invited to a pizza lunch in Old Main beginning at noon.

The School of Languages and Linguistics and the College of Liberal Arts host the program.
