SIU’s online MBA ranked best in Illinois 

SIU Carbondale has the top online MBA program in Illinois, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 online program rankings released Jan. 27. The program earned the No. 1 spot in Illinois, among 14 programs, and is ranked 127th in the United States.


Faculty and Staff Excellence Award nominations deadline extended 

The nomination deadline for Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards has been extended to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2. 


2025 W-2s available through HRSS

2025 W-2 forms for faculty and staff are now available through the Human Resources Self Service (HRSS) portal for employees who agreed to receive electronic W-2s. For those who did not provide electronic consent, your 2025 W-2 form is scheduled to be mailed by Jan. 31.


Free after-school VR program for middle school students

Middle school students in Southern Illinois are invited to sign up for the free Saluki VR Developers Program. Students can attend the program in Neckers Hall from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays or Wednesdays, Feb. 3-April 29.


SIU’s Jan. 31 Yellow Moon Gyroid Concert is a ‘String Music Matinee’

SIU Carbondale will host the first concert of 2026 in the Yellow Moon Gyroid Concert Series on Saturday, Jan. 31, in Morris Library’s third-floor rotunda. The free, public concert begins at 3 p.m.


‘Unleashed’ is rescheduled to Feb. 5

Unleashed: A Salukis After-Hours Social is a new happy hour-style event providing faculty, staff and retirees with an opportunity to socialize and enjoy free entertainment, free food and fun. Due to weather conditions, the kickoff “Unleashed” is rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 5, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Old Main Lounge.


Property Control training sessions set

Property Control will offer inventory application training workshops Feb. 5, 10, and 12. Preregistration is required.


SIU Opera Theater to perform ‘charming’ comedy on Feb. 6, 8 

A comedic short opera that showcases a maid’s determination to marry her elderly bachelor employer and become mistress of the household unfolds in two performances Feb. 6 and Feb. 8 in Shryock Auditorium. 


Reminder: Luncheon to recognize SIU ‘Black Alumni Changemakers’  

The SIU Foundation is hosting a public luncheon on Feb. 6 to recognize seven alumni with “Voices of Impact: Celebrating SIU Black Alumni Changemakers.” The event begins at 11:30 a.m. in Student Center Ballroom B. Tickets are available for $25 each, and RSVP is requested by Feb. 2. Learn more about the honored alumni.
