Free after-school VR program for middle school students
Middle school students in Southern Illinois are invited to sign up for the free Saluki VR Developers Program.
Funded by an Illinois State Board of Education After-School Program Grant, the program is open to students at Carbondale Middle School, DeSoto Middle School and Murphysboro Middle School (students from other schools must email visual@siu.edu to determine eligibility).
Students can attend the program in Neckers Hall from 3:30-5 p.m. Tuesdays or Wednesdays, Feb. 3-April 29. Each class is limited to 12 students.
Students will:
- Learn how to make their own VR simulations.
- Enhance their computing abilities, learn basic coding skills and interact with VR engines.
- Enjoy hands-on, STEM-based activities.
No prior experience or knowledge is needed. To register or receive more information, visit the Saluki VR Developers Program webpage.
The program is led by the School of Physics and Applied Physics, School of Computing, STEM Education Research Center (SERC) and Center for Virtual Expression (CVeX).
