New, free, fun event for faculty and staff
Unleashed: A Salukis After-Hours Social is a new happy hour-style event providing faculty, staff and retirees with an opportunity to socialize and enjoy free entertainment, free food and fun.
Each month, January through April, there will be a themed event at varied Student Center locations.
The kickoff “Unleashed” is Jan. 29 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Old Main Lounge on the second floor. There will be live entertainment featuring a piano bar vibe, along with a wide variety of appetizers. During the social, four drawings for prizes will be held, and all in attendance will be eligible to win. Participants can also enjoy a cash bar featuring beer and wine as well as a signature themed drink, all at affordable prices.
The SIU Chapter of State Universities Annuitants Association is sponsoring the inaugural event, allowing all staff, faculty and retirees to participate at no cost. Sponsors are being sought for future events on Feb. 26, March 26 and April 30. Plans call for subsequent social themes to include a speakeasy, a retro neon bowling evening and an outdoor patio party.
