Simon Institute hosts Du Quoin, SIU Law alumna Jen Daulby to discuss her career

Jen Daulby, a Du Quoin native and SIU Simmons Law School alumna who is CEO of the Congressional Management Foundation, will discuss her path from Southern Illinois to Washington, D.C., at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in the SIU Student Center.


You’re invited to a Conversation on Equitable Funding for Illinois Higher Education 

SIU Carbondale faculty, staff and students are invited to a Conversation on Equitable Funding for Illinois Higher Education, a presentation and discussion on SB 13 / HB 1581: The Adequate and Equitable Funding Formula from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Old Main Room of the Student Center. Doors will open at 4 p.m. 


SIU symphony, youth orchestras to perform Monday

The SIU Carbondale Symphony Orchestra and Youth Orchestra will present a free, public concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, in Shryock Auditorium.


Travel, reimbursement training sessions set

The Office of Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance is offering in-person travel training sessions the next two weeks to help SIU Carbondale employees improve the travel and reimbursement process. Each of the sessions will be held in Morris Library, Rooms 752/754. Pre-registration is required. A participant needs to attend only one session.


Ceramics program to help community with Empty Bowls on Saturday

SIU Carbondale ceramics students and faculty will show their handiwork as the community comes together on Saturday, Nov. 8, with the annual Empty Bowls drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or as long as the bowls last.


Encourage students to register for spring classes 

As the end of the fall semester nears, now is the time to remind students that a great way to stay on track and complete their degrees on time is to register now via SalukiNet for spring 2026 classes. The semester begins Jan. 12. 


Volunteers needed for SIU’s Dec. 7 Study Jam 

As time for finals approaches, SIU Carbondale’s faculty and staff are collaborating to provide extra support – think pancakes, bacon and tutoring – to students during this busy, stressful time of the year. The Pancake Study Jam is from 2-5 p.m. in Room A 111 of the Engineering Building.


Yellow Moon Gyroid Concert to feature ‘Piano Trio Archduke’

SIU Carbondale will host the second concert this fall in the Yellow Moon Gyroid Concert Series on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in Morris Library’s third-floor rotunda. The free, public concert begins at 5 p.m.


Women’s Leadership Council grant applications available 

Applications are open for the SIU Foundation Women’s Leadership Council’s 2026-2027 WLC Micro-Grant Award. The application deadline is Dec. 12. 


Saluki sports this week 

The Saluki men’s basketball team hosts the Charles Helleny Tip-Off Classic against University of Missouri Kansas City at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Banterra Center. The Saluki women’s volleyball team closes out its home schedule with a pair of matches at Davies Gym. They face Murray State at 6 p.m. Friday and Belmont at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. Reminder: SIU Today Veterans Day schedule 

The Nov. 13 edition of SIU Today will have an early deadline of 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, due to the university’s observance of Veterans Day on Tuesday, Nov. 11.  


New Arts Jazztet to perform Sunday  

Members of the New Arts Jazztet, a Southern Illinois jazz group comprising SIU faculty and guests, will perform at Jazz Vespers, an evening prayer service, at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua St., Carbondale. NAJ was formed in 1984 by several School of Music faculty and has been in residence since that time. The performance will celebrate the music of Duke Pearson and feature Bob Allison, Isaac Lausell, Keith Javors, Phil Brown and Darlene DuFay. The service will also be livestreamed on the Jazz Vespers at Epiphany Facebook page.
