SIU earns national recognition from Campus Pride 

SIU Carbondale has once again earned national recognition for its diversity and inclusivity. Campus Pride, a leading LGBTQ+ campus rating and information index, has honored the university among its 2022 “Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Colleges and Universities.”


SIU receives $1.3M grant to continue McNair Scholars Program

A $1.3 million federal grant will enable the university to continue the McNair Scholars Program, which has helped hundreds of disadvantaged students earn advanced college degrees. The Ronald McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program is part of the U.S. Department of Education’s TRIO outreach program.


Help inform students of on-campus counseling services

Faculty and staff have an opportunity to be a resource to assist students with their emotional wellness. Given the increased stress with the start of a new semester, you may find yourself encountering students with mental health and emotional needs that warrant additional support. Students can use on campus counseling services at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).


Award-winning biographer to discuss courage and defiance during times of crisis

Rebecca Donner, this year’s winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for biography and one of the nation’s most respected writers, will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute for a virtual conversation on Sept. 7.
