A variety of special activities are on tap in October and early November as the campus recognizes LGBTQ+ History Month and Solidarity Week.

Reminder: COVID-19 vaccination clinic on campus this week

The Student Center will host a free COVID-19 vaccination today through Friday, Oct. 8, in the Renaissance Room. For more information, visit siu.edu/coronavirus.


Civil Service advisory committee petitions available

University civil service employees have until Oct. 25 to petition for election to the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee. One civil service employee will be elected to serve on the committee for a four-year term from Jan.1, 2022, to Dec. 31, 2025.


Virtual appointments for faculty and staff regalia orders are Tuesday

University Events and Protocol is reminding faculty and staff of the virtual regalia sale through Herff Jones, a national provider of custom regalia on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Graduate students wishing to purchase regalia rather than rent are also welcome. 


‘Illinois Authors’ event to explore Midwest’s connections to American, world history

Author Kristin Hoganson will discuss her book, "The Heartland: An American History," during a virtual conversation hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7.
