Saluki Pride: Jacari Henderson gives back to help others

Jacari Henderson, director of compliance, Intercollegiate Athletics, is a leader in the department’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, organizing several programs and panels for student-athletes, staff and the greater community. The creative works of Southern Illinois University Carbondale students and the local community will be on national display next week as part of the 2021 PBS Short Film Festival, July 12-23.

Paul Simon Institute to host two upcoming virtual discussions 

Biographer and New York Times bestselling author Candice Millard will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute for a virtual conversation at 2 p.m. Friday, July 9. Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens will participate in a “Meet the Mayor” virtual discussion at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 13.


Two SIU aviation teams place in top 10 in 2021 Air Race Classic 

Two teams representing the School of Aviation finished in the top 10 last month in the 2021 Air Race Classic, the only women’s air race in the nation.


SIU architectural master’s degree graduate blazes a trail

Thanks to a School of Architecture initiative, Matthew T. Bundy worked toward an architectural license while earning his Master of Architecture degree in December 2020. He became the first Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) student to graduate from an Illinois architectural school and the second to graduate from an online IPAL program in the nation.


New Arts Jazztet will perform Sunday

New Arts Jazztet, a Southern Illinois jazz group comprising SIU faculty, will perform at Jazz Vespers, an evening prayer service at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua St., Carbondale, at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 11.
