Although we are still experiencing a pandemic, current trends give us reason for hope of getting back to normal in the future.

SIU to honor nine Excellence Award recipients

The university will recognize nine faculty and staff members this spring for superior scholarship and creative endeavors, teaching and service with the 2021 Excellence Awards.


SIU is celebrating Asian American/Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The university is celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in April with a variety of special events and exhibits, including a guest speaker and a candlelight vigil. All activities are free and open to the community.


Fashion design students show off styles, even without a runway 

Fashion design can mean a lot of trial and error before finding that perfect fit. As the COVID-19 pandemic prompted many lifestyle changes during the past year, students in the fashion design and merchandising (FDM) program  led by Laura Kidd, associate professor, are also adapting this season to an exciting change to a long-held springtime staple.


Virtual Little Grassy Literary Festival 2021 starts Monday

The venerable Little Grassy Literary Festival at Southern Illinois University Carbondale will take on a different twist this year while still featuring a variety of renowned literary authors.
