SIU to hold in-person commencement ceremonies in May
If trends continue in the right direction, the university plans to hold in-person commencement ceremonies at Saluki Stadium to celebrate graduation, May 7-9. Ceremonies will have many familiar traditions, some of them modified to comply with COVID-19 health and safety protocols.
Chicago broadcast journalist, SIU alumna to present Marmaduke Lecture
Afua Owusu took to heart the lessons learned while an undergraduate student in the Department of Radio, Television, and Digital Media. The 2005 broadcast journalism graduate will present the 2021 Marmaduke Lecture Series when she discusses her career and the role of women in the media, particularly in high-ranking posts and on-air positions, during a virtual community discussion at 7 p.m. March 18.
Virtual SURS general retirement session is March 25
University employees may participate in a virtual State Universities Retirement System (SURS) general retirement session on March 25. The session is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. and is for all SURS Tier I and Tier II participants.
Saluki athletics has busy March schedule
This month will offer plenty of opportunities, regardless of your favorite sport, for fans to don maroon and cheer on the Salukis.
A/P performance evaluation reminder
University policy requires that all administrative/professional staff have their work evaluated on an annual basis between Jan. 1 and March 31. The rating period to be used for evaluations completed in 2021 is Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2020. Evaluation forms are on the AIS e-forms website. Completed evaluations should be sent to Labor and Employee Relations before April 1, 2021.
