The university is recognizing Black History Month with an eclectic blend of special events with a purpose in February.


Public comment sought as part of SIU System strategic plan development

Work on a strategic plan for the Southern Illinois University System continues with an invitation for public comment on drafts of a mission statement, vision statement and key themes. You can comment online through Feb. 5 or participate in one of two virtual town halls.


Simon Institute to host Pulitzer Prize-winning author, historian Edward Larson 

Pulitzer Prize-winning historian and law professor Edward J. Larson will discuss his academic and writing career and the nation’s “uneasy relationship with science” during a virtual discussion on Monday, Feb. 1, hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.


Panel discussion today to examine bias and student performance

Faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a virtual discussion today, Jan. 28, that focuses on various forms of bias and how it impacts student performance and engagement in the classroom.


Unemployment insurance claim fraud update

The Illinois Department of Employment Security is in the process of finalizing the annual    1099-G form mailing to all individuals who received unemployment insurance (UI) benefits in 2020.
