TV show documents SIU producing vital COVID-19 testing component

A documentary that chronicles the university’s efforts to manufacture a critical component of COVID-19 tests earlier this year will air on public television this month. “Going Viral” will premiere at 8:30 p.m. today, Dec. 10, on Southern Illinois stations WSIU-TV and WUSI-TV.


Nominations being accepted for Faculty and Staff Excellence Awards

Know someone who inspires you with their incredible talent, passion and commitment? Nominate them for a Faculty and Staff Excellence Award. The nomination deadline is 4:30 p.m. Feb. 5. 


Help SIU save energy costs over winter break 

In an effort to control campus energy costs, Plant and Service Operations asks employees to help conserve energy by following some simple suggestions before leaving campus for the holiday break. Custodial staff will visit the offices of faculty and staff who have been working remotely this semester.


Simon Institute virtual discussion to examine President Kennedy’s enduring appeal

Historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Fredrik Logevall will discuss the enduring appeal of President John F. Kennedy during a virtual conversation next week hosted by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute.


Reminders of information technology changes in 2021 

The Office of Information Technology is reminding faculty and staff that it is important to enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) before leaving campus for the winter break; users will not be able to access SIU systems without enrolling in MFA, beginning Jan. 6. OIT emphasizes it is important to enroll in MFA now to avoid interruption to email and network access, tech tools and other services
