Finding better, cleaner and more sustainable ways to continue that practice is the goal of the new director of the Advanced Coal and Energy Research Center.


SIU to hold traditional Veterans Day vigil, with safety precautions

Southern Illinois University Carbondale this week will again remember those who have served the country with a time-honored tradition on Veterans Day, while also taking necessary COVID-19 safety precautions.


Virtual conversation about African American history in SIU System region is Nov. 16 

Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members from across the SIU System are invited to join a live virtual discussion next week that examines African American history events in the regions surrounding SIU Carbondale and SIU Edwardsville. The discussion will highlight influences these historical episodes have had in developing the SIU System.


SIU’s popular Holiday Craft Sale goes virtual in 2020 

A popular holiday tradition will still take place on campus albeit in a new and different way in 2020. The Student Center’s 42nd annual Holiday Craft Sale will be virtual and expanded to a three-week event.
