The HLC Accreditation Journey

Last week, a team of peer reviewers from the Higher Learning Commission was in Carbondale and Springfield as part of our 10-year accreditation review. The close of the two-day visit wasn’t the beginning of the accreditation process, however, and it is not the end.

SIU to partner with DCFS for simulation training center

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker joined child welfare and university leaders today (Feb. 27) to announce that SIU Carbondale will be the university partner for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services’ third simulation training center statewide.


SIU’s Women’s History Month honors women’s suffrage

The university commemorates Women’s History Month 2020 in March with events recognizing the 100th anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote.

University Honors Program presents faculty showcase next week

The University Honors Program on Tuesday will showcase faculty research and teaching around the theme of “survival.”


Guest duo piano recital is Friday

John Orfe and Chee Hyeon Choi will perform a program of one-piano 4-hands music by various composers, and excerpts from Leonard Bernstein's “West Side Story” arranged for two pianos by Musto on Friday in Shryock Auditorium. The performance begins at 6 p.m. and the audience will be seated on the stage. The concert is free and open to the public.
