SIU Carbondale makes climate commitment

Southern Illinois University Carbondale reaffirmed the university’s longstanding commitment to sustainability today (Feb. 20) when Chancellor John M. Dunn signed the Second Nature Climate Commitment.


Faculty/Staff Appreciation men’s basketball game is tonight 

Saluki Athletics reminds all SIU faculty and staff members and their families that the appreciation game for men’s basketball is tonight when the Salukis face Evansville at 7 p.m. at Banterra Center. All SIU faculty and staff get in free to the game with a valid SIU ID and additional tickets are available at a discounted price of $10 apiece. Faculty and staff will also receive free admission to the women’s basketball game on March 5 when the Salukis take on Loyola at 6 p.m.

Bioethicist lecture to look at Medical Aid in Dying possibilities in Illinois

A presentation that assesses why a proposal that would allow terminally ill patients to obtain medical assistance to end their lives should be passed by the Illinois General Assembly is the focus of the 2020 John and Marsha Ryan Bioethicist in Residence lecture next week.


‘The Musical of Musicals’ fills McLeod Theater this week

Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Darryl Kent Clark first saw a production of “The Musical of Musicals (The Musical!)” nearly a decade ago. Over the next nine years, Clark, an assistant professor in Theater specializing in musical theater dance, kept the idea of the performance in the back of his mind. This weekend, the hilarious musical will be a reality on the McLeod Theater stage.
