Komarraju nominated as SIU Carbondale provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs 

Meera Komarraju, who has served SIU Carbondale as its interim provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs since April 2018, will see the interim label removed from her title, pending approval of the university’s Board of Trustees.


Ceremony, reception to recognize service, retiring employees 

The university will recognize university employees for their service and commitment and honor retiring employees during a ceremony and reception Dec. 3 in Student Center Ballroom D. The ceremony starts at 10 a.m. A faculty-staff appreciation coffee from 8 to 10 a.m. in the International Lounge precedes the recognition ceremony.


Supplemental Retirement Plans Universal Availability Notice  

This notice contains some general information related to SIU Carbondale’s Supplemental Retirement 403(b) Plan and the State of Illinois’ 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan. The plans are a supplement to the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) pension. 


REACH Awards competition opens this week 

The 2020-2021 Research-Enriched Academic Challenge (REACH) award competition closes Jan. 31 for full-time undergraduate students. Students with a GPA of 2.8 or higher are eligible to compete. Faculty need to submit recommendation forms and letters of support to reach@siu.edu by Feb. 10.

New Arts Jazztet to help kick off the holidays 

The New Arts Jazztet and jazz vocalist Eden Atwood will bring in the holiday season with “The New Arts Jazztet does Christmas” in the renovated Balcony at The Varsity Center on Dec. 2.


SIU Today holiday schedule 

There will not be an issue on Thursday, due to Thanksgiving. SIU Today will return Dec. 2. The last issue prior to Christmas break will be Dec. 12. SIU Today will resume on Jan. 6.
