Supporting Saluki success through graduation, Part 1

The real bright point in our enrollment data has been our retention rate. Though we know that no institution will ever achieve 100 percent retention, our ultimate goal is to usher every student who enrolls all the way through to graduation and into a fulfilling career. So, what are we doing to get students from enrollment to career or graduate school? Here’s the first of a two-part snapshot of our many retention efforts.

 

SIU Aviation Technologies, Chinese university embark on collaborative degree program 

A collaborative degree program between Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s aviation technologies program and Shenyang Aerospace University in China is expected to bring 60 additional international students to campus beginning in 2021.


SPC sponsoring office door Homecoming contest 

The Student Programming council is offering departments and offices on campus the opportunity to get into the 2019 Homecoming spirit by participating in the 5th annual Homecoming Office Door Decorating Contest.


University Honors Program faculty showcase will examine various forms of ‘survival’ 

Many forms of survival will be discussed when the University Honors Program gathers at Morris Library from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday for its inaugural faculty showcase and student awards presentation. 


Temple Grandin to discuss ‘Developing Talent’ in lecture on Thursday 

Dr. Temple Grandin, a well-known animal behavior scientist and autism self-advocate, will visit with Southern Illinois University Carbondale students and present a lecture on campus on Thursday.


Annual juried art exhibition at SIU is open for student and community entries 

Artists from across the region are invited to submit entries to the 13th annual C4 Juried Art Exhibition, hosted by the Critical Forum registered student organization.


Join SIU Women’s Club for networking, philanthropy and more 

The fall membership drive for the Southern Illinois University Women’s Club is now underway.
