SPC sponsoring office door Homecoming contest
The Student Programming council is offering departments and offices on campus the opportunity to get into the 2019 Homecoming spirit by participating in the 5th annual Homecoming Office Door Decorating Contest.
This year’s Homecoming theme is “One Team, Saluki Dream: Celebrating 150 Years Strong” and decorations should follow this theme. The registration deadline is 4:30 p.m., Oct. 10. Doors must be set for presentation by 9 a.m. Oct. 14. Participants are encouraged to keep their doors decorated throughout the week.
The SIU Alumni Association and University Communications and Marketing are supporting the Saluki spirit by providing door decoration starter kits. In celebration of the university’s 150th anniversary, the goal is to have 150 or more doors on campus decorated for homecoming. The kits will be available for pickup in the new Alumni Center in Woody Hall during regular business hours beginning Oct. 7.
The SIU Homecoming Committee and SPC are contest sponsors. Additional guidelines and the entry form are available. There is no limit to the resources used for decorations other than not using glitter. The committee is not responsible for stolen or damaged decorations.
The football Salukis face Youngstown State at 2 p.m. Oct. 19 in Saluki Stadium for homecoming.
