State-required training must be completed by Oct. 5


All faculty and staff should have received an important email about training related to sexual harassment. This training, required by the State of Illinois at least annually, is in addition to the federally required Preventing Discrimination and Sexual Violence training program.

The training required by the state must be completed by Oct. 5 and must be completed by all faculty, staff, graduate assistants, student employees and volunteers by accessing their D2L account. University is accepting honorary degree/service award nominations

Southern Illinois University Carbondale is now accepting nominations for honorary degree and distinguished service awards that will be presented at May 2020 commencement ceremonies. 


U.S. Senate Historian to discuss changing concepts of leadership

Betty Koed, the third Historian of the United States Senate, will provide her perspectives on leadership within that legislative body on Monday in the SIU School of Law Hiram H. Lesar Building Auditorium.


Performance art band ‘Princess’ comes to University Museum on Friday 

“Princess,” a performance art band, will bring its high-powered live performance/video project “Out There” to University Museum this week.

The Department of Public Safety’s September 2019 issue of the ‘Saluki Watch Dawg’ is available. This month’s edition includes information the department’s second “Cops and Kids” Backpack Giveaway; the Parking Division’s satellite office in the Student Center; campus safety tips, and suicide prevention tips.


New Arts Jazztet will perform Sunday

New Arts Jazztet, a Southern Illinois jazz group comprised of SIU faculty, will perform at Jazz Vespers, an evening prayer service at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua St., Carbondale, at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
