Small campuses across the country tout their small class sizes and individual attention. But few offer access to professors who are active, leading researchers in their field. SIU offers the best of both worlds.

NSF grant helps anthropologist, student study effects of Hurricane Harvey

Roberto Barrios, associate professor, and Grace Vargas, a senior earning a degree in anthropology, have earned National Science Foundation grants for research on the effects of Hurricane Harvey on Houston, Texas, residents.


College of Business hosting lecture and awards ceremonies

The College of Business is sponsoring a new public lecture series and two special awards presentations. The inaugural Gary N. Parrish Lecture Series and Award Ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the SIU Student Center’s International Lounge.


Benefit choice open enrollment underway

The State Employees Group Insurance Program Benefit Choice open enrollment period continues through May 31 for all eligible employees. 


University’s diversity plan moves forward

On April 30, the members of the Chancellor’s Diversity Council presented SIU’s Diversity Plan to Chancellor Carlo Montemagno and received his approval to move forward, according to Todd Bryson, interim associate chancellor for diversity.


SIU ID Card Office has new website, added features

Faculty, staff and students now have the opportunity to upload their own ID photo for use on their SIU identification card.
