Some of the strategies in our new retention plan focus specifically on freshmen. They include piloting a block scheduling initiative in which cohorts of students take two to three courses as a group to increase their engagement. If the pilot works, we will expand and enhance block scheduling where feasible.
Another strategy is to increase the number of mid-semester courses for students who drop courses, giving them an option for a fresh start that does not delay their academic progress. Details about both of these strategies can be found in the plan.
