by Christi Mathis

CARBONDALE, Ill.  -- Alto Vineyards and Winery is organizing and hosting “Wine with Friends” on June 1 as a benefit for the children and adults who attend programming at Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Touch of Nature Environmental Center.

The benefit is from noon to 6 p.m. at the winery, located at 8515 Illinois 127 in Alto Pass.  It is a family style event and will feature children’s activities, live entertainment and food. The Ivas John Band will provide live music from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and food will be available for purchase throughout the day.  Adults attending may also participate in wine tastings and will have the opportunity to win raffles and a 50/50 drawing.

Tickets are $15 each and available in advance or at the door.  Children may attend for free.  To purchase advance tickets, make a donation or to find out more, visit the winery, go online to www.altovineyards.net or call 618/893-4898.

Proceeds will benefit children and adults with disabilities as well as others who attend programs and events at Touch of Nature Environmental Center each year.  Thousands of people from around the United States and beyond participate in the many camps, programs and events.
