SIU students star in short films featuring cultural exploration in China
Mini-documentaries showcasing the experiences of three College of Arts and Media students who recently returned from a cultural exploration program in China will debut at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Morris Library’s Guyon Auditorium. The free, public event will include a panel discussion with the students and a Q&A with the audience. A reception begins at 4 p.m.

Mark your calendar now and plan to attend the 2026 Family Weekend and Homecoming festivities at SIU Carbondale. Family Weekend will be Sept. 11-13, and Homecoming is set for Oct. 12-17.
Employees get holiday discount for ‘SIU A to Z’ children’s book
Faculty and staff searching for perfect gifts for young readers can buy “SIU A to Z,” a new children’s book from the SIU Alumni Association next week that celebrates the university’s people, places and spirit, at a 25% holiday discount.
Department of Public Safety Awards Ceremony is Dec. 11

SIU President Dan Mahony: ‘The Impact of International Students at Universities’
SIU System President Dan Mahony’s latest “Office Hours” podcast is “The Impact of International Students at Universities.” Mahony recently talked with two SIU System faculty members who first came to the United States as international students — Jeb Asirvatham, associate professor of agricultural and applied economics at SIU Carbondale, and Elza Ibroscheva, associate provost, SIU Edwardsville. He also spoke with Cheryl Borowiak, leader of international affairs at SIU Edwardsville.
Couple endows SIU scholarship with $100K, adds $500K planned gift
Alumnus William Saegesser and his wife, Shirley, have created a legacy of opportunity at SIU Carbondale through a $100,000 endowed scholarship and a $500,000 planned gift that will support future generations of Salukis pursuing degrees in the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics.
No SIU Today on Thanksgiving
Like the rest of campus, SIU Today will take off Thanksgiving Day on Nov. 27. The deadline for the Dec. 1 edition is 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25.
