Required human rights posters available
The SIU Carbondale Office of Equity and Compliance reminds departments that posters outlining sexual harassment laws and policies are available for download on its website. The Illinois Department of Human Rights requires the posters be placed in an accessible location.

The clock is ticking but it’s not too late for youths to enjoy SIU Carbondale’s summer 2025 camp experience. A diverse array of academic, athletic, art, music, and outdoor and nature camps are available through early August for children from first grade through high school.

SIU Carbondale will host the 58th annual Ag Field Day beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, at SIU’s Belleville Research Center. The event is free and open to the public and will be held rain or shine.
Alumnus creates scholarships for math, computer science, mechanical engineering majors
Man Nguyen, a 1975 graduate from SIU Carbondale’s mathematics program, arrived in Carbondale in 1971 from Vietnam and pursued his dream. Retired from a career in information technology, Nguyen established the Man and Lien Nguyen Mathematics and Computer Science Scholarship Fund, which will provide two annual scholarships — one for a student majoring in mathematics or computer science and another for a student majoring in mechanical engineering.
New Arts Jazztet to perform Sunday
Members of the New Arts Jazztet, a Southern Illinois jazz group comprising SIU faculty and guests, will perform at Jazz Vespers, an evening prayer service, at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Chautauqua St., Carbondale. NAJ was formed in 1984 by several School of Music faculty and has been in residence since that time. The performance will celebrate the music of Geri Allen, George Benson, Joe Henderson, Pat Metheny, Duke Pearson and Bobby Watson. The service will also be livestreamed on the Jazz Vespers at Epiphany Facebook page.
