Saluki Con returns to SIU April 22-23

Saluki Con, a two-day extravaganza packed with gaming, special guest stars, virtual reality, workshops, contests and more returns to campus, Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23. There’s fun for all ages at the fifth edition of the popular event.


SIU honors eight Excellence Award recipients today

Eight faculty and staff members will be recognized today, April 17, for superior scholarship and creative endeavors, teaching and service with the 2023 Excellence Awards. The ceremony is at 3 p.m. in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium.


Conversation on reporting bias across SIU campuses is Tuesday

A Conversation of Understanding on Tuesday, April 18, will examine how to disclose concerns about bias on SIU campuses and the efforts that will follow those reports. Faculty, staff, students, alumni and community members are invited to join the live virtual discussion at noon. 


SIU student wins top prize in national mortuary science contest

Colten Savage, an SIU Carbondale senior mortuary science and funeral service major, recently won the Service Corporation International Scholarship, claiming the $10,000 prize.


SIU fashion students to showcase their creations April 20 

The Fashion Studies program will host the 2023 Student Showcase and Runway Fashion Show at the Student Center at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 20. The annual event is free and open to the public. 


SIU’s McLeod Theater hosts ‘Sondheim Tribute Revue’ April 20-23  

The School of Theater and Dance and the School of Music will present “Sondheim Tribute Revue” in the Communications Building McLeod Theater on campus Thursday through Sunday, April 20-23 to honor the late American composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.


SIU hosts acclaimed violinist, Carbondale native David Kim on April 24 

David Kim, a Carbondale native considered one of the finest and most accomplished violinists in the world, returns to SIU Carbondale on Monday, April 24, for an afternoon masterclass with students and free evening recital. Kim’s evening program, “From Prodigy to Professional — A Life in Music,” is at 7 p.m. in the Old Baptist Foundation Recital Hall.

Tickets for the Waka Flocka Flame and Rubi Rose concert at 7 p.m. April 28 in Shryock Auditorium are now available online.
