SIU is celebrating Black History Month with guest speakers and more

The university’s Black History Month commemoration in February will feature a wide variety of events, including special guest speakers and an impactful trip for students. This year’s theme is “Power of Black Resilience,” and most events are free and open to the public.


Town hall to address findings of campus climate survey 

The majority of SIU faculty, staff and students feel welcome and safe on the campuses of the SIU System, but employees expressed concern about compensation and the promotion process, according to the findings of the SIU System Campus Climate Survey administered last spring. University leaders and representatives from constituency groups will hold a virtual town hall to discuss the findings from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31.


Nearly 700 students attend FFA

Nearly 700 high school students from around the state watched the Salukis men’s basketball team beat Murray State Tuesday night at the Banterra Center as part of the university’s ninth annual FFA night.

SIU hosting Love at First Onsight climbing competition Feb. 11

Registration is open for the eighth annual Love at First Onsight, Valentine’s-themed climbing competition, set for Feb. 11, at the Student Recreation Center.
