School of Law, SIUE team up to offer joint law, MPA program

The SIU School of Law and SIUE have joined to offer a Juris Doctor/Master of Public Administration program, which allows students to earn both degrees simultaneously with fewer courses, in turn providing enhanced career opportunities for leadership in public agencies and other fields. This is the first memorandum of understanding for concurrent degrees across the two campuses.


SIU student researches VR as a way to connect isolated older adults to the world

Mentored by Sandy Collins, a professor and health care management program director, senior Arianna Goss has used groundbreaking research utilizing virtual reality to publish a paper on the feasibility of VR for mental health in long-term care in rural areas.


Paul Simon Institute to host expert on religious literacy in international affairs

The Rev. Susan Hayward, associate director for the Religious Literacy and Professions Initiative at Harvard Divinity School, will join the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute for a virtual discussion on Tuesday, Jan. 10.


Faculty development support is available

The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research is announcing a program that will provide partial support to faculty to attend state, national or international conferences, professional meetings or creative events.


Student Employee of the Year nominations due Friday

Faculty and staff have the opportunity to nominate a Student Employee of the Year for 2022. The nomination deadline is Friday, Jan. 13. Any employee is welcome to nominate a student.


Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter is available

The monthly Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter for December 2022 is available. The Office of Executive Inspector General publishes the newsletter to allow state employees to stay informed of current issues relating to ethics. The SIU System Ethics Office website is siusystem.edu/ethics.
