SIU Flying Salukis capture 11th consecutive regional title
Paced by co-captains Dayne Snodgrass and Wendy Elliott, the Southern Illinois University Carbondale Flying Salukis turned in another dominating performance en route to winning an 11th consecutive National Flying Association Region VIII championship.
SIU celebrates Native American Heritage Month in November
The university will be recognizing November as Native American Heritage Month with a variety of special events. All activities are free and open to the public.

SIU trio helps create trails to improve access to Tahoe National Forest
Led by Paul Hart, an SIU alumnus in outdoor recreation leadership, SIU students Kyle Griffey and Austin Krelo worked this summer to create more trails in the Tahoe National Forest accessible for people to enjoy.
Reminder: Feeling sick? Mask up
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to wear a mask they are feeling sick to protect other people and the community, according to the Emergency Operations Center. As of today, Nov. 3, Jackson County is a medium level of community transmission.
‘Let’s Talk Research’ monthly discussion is Nov. 9
The second “Let’s Talk Research,” a monthly virtual event that highlights research on campus, is set for Wednesday, Nov. 9.
SIU School of Art and Design iron pour is Saturday
Art students in the sculpture program in the School of Art and Design will host their free fall iron pour, beginning at noon Saturday, Nov. 5.

It’s never too soon to plan ahead and mark your calendars. SIU Carbondale has announced the dates for Family Weekend and Homecoming 2023, and it’s not uncommon for accommodations to fill up fast.
Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter is available
The monthly Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter for October 2022 is available. The Office of Executive Inspector General publishes the newsletter to allow state employees to stay informed of current issues relating to ethics. The SIU System Ethics Office website is siusystem.edu/ethics.
