All are welcome to search for trees on campus during Tree Campus BioBlitz

The university has long been recognized for its commitment to urban forest management. In keeping with that tradition, individuals and school groups are invited to participate in a special event later this week, the Tree Campus Higher Education BioBlitz.


Mandatory Ethics Act training deadline is Oct. 31

SIU Carbondale faculty, staff, graduate assistants, undergraduate assistants, volunteers, student workers and extra help workers are reminded that the deadline for the mandatory 2022 annual ethics act training is Monday, Oct. 31. The training is located on the D2L platform. School of Medicine employees on the Carbondale campus will complete training using HealthStream.


Health and Human Sciences’ faculty, students to share research Thursday

Faculty from the College of Health and Human Sciences will discuss their research during a “flash talk” presentation at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in Morris Library’s John C. Guyon Auditorium. The event is free and open to SIU faculty, staff, students and the public.


275 high school students to perform in SIU choral festival Oct. 26

About 275 high school students from Illinois and Kentucky will perform at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Shryock Auditorium as part of a high school choral festival. The free, public concert begins at 6 p.m.


Flu immunizations available Wednesday

The second of two walk-up flu shot clinics for all active and retired SIU Carbondale employees, as well as surviving spouses enrolled in a state-sponsored health plan is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the SIU Alumni Association Courtyard at Woody Hall.


SIU’s Export Controls newsletter is available 

The monthly SIU Export Controls newsletter for October 2022 is available. The newsletter provides a resource for current export control issues and events that could affect SIU and its faculty. This edition includes a story about protecting U.S. technological advantage, as well as details about the availability of SIU research compliance guidance.
