SIU researchers study Mississippi wetlands

A research team co-led by Liliana Lefticariu, associate professor of geology in the School of Earth Systems and Sustainability, is trying to find out if a key to mitigating an ongoing environmental threat lies along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River.


Angela Towne named LGBTQ Resource Center coordinator

Angela Towne, the new LGBTQ Resource Center coordinator, said her goals include “connecting with students, faculty and staff, building and supporting a vibrantly healthy queer and ally community, and having fun in the process.”


SIU program uses countries as classrooms about ancient times

By using the “country as a classroom,” Robert Hahn, professor, philosophy, has given SIU students and community members an opportunity to learn about ancient history in interdisciplinary, team-taught, hands-on excursions to Greece and Turkey or Egypt and explore life’s great questions such as democracy and the afterlife. Zoom presentations are set later this week for scheduled trips in June.


Transgender voice therapy is available

The SIU Clinical Center is offering transgender voice therapy evaluation and treatment.

The Department of Public Safety’s February 2022 issue of the “Saluki Watch Dawg” is available. This month’s edition includes information on DPS’ accreditation review, personal safety tips and a discussion on what constitutes stalking, available education and awareness presentations, and available mental health resources.


‘Illinois Ethics Matters’ newsletter is available

The monthly Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter for January 2022 is available. The Office of Executive Inspector General publishes the newsletter to allow state employees to stay informed of current issues relating to ethics. The SIU System Ethics Office website is siusystem.edu/ethics.
