Those of you following today’s Board of Trustees meeting already know that the proposal to shift $5.1 million in state appropriations from the Carbondale to the Edwardsville campus effective July 1 did not pass. I am grateful to the faculty, staff, students, community members and trustees who spoke about the importance of maintaining these funds. More

53 faculty members earn promotion, tenure

The SIU Board of Trustees today approved promotions in academic rank and tenure for 53 faculty members effective with the 2018-19 academic year. More


2018 Honors Day celebrations are Saturday 

A celebration to acknowledge and salute exceptional students will take place during Honors Day ceremonies on Saturday. More


‘Out of the Darkness’ campus walk is Saturday 

“Salukis on your Side,” a campus suicide prevention program, in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is hosting an “Out of the Darkness Campus Walk” Saturday. Registration is at 4:30 p.m. at the front entrance of the Student Center and the walk is from 5 to 7 p.m. More


Three students share Rickert-Ziebold Award honors

An exhibition reception and award presentation for three graduating seniors from the School of Art and Design who are sharing the 2018 Rickert-Ziebold Trust Award is tomorrow. More


Rainbow’s End goes beyond childcare with hands-on learning and focus on child development

With a variety of activities available for children, there is always something happening at Rainbow’s End Child Development Center. A fundraiser next week will help to buy classroom materials and summer playground equipment. More


‘Illinois Ethics Matters’ newsletter available 

The monthly Illinois Ethics Matters newsletter for April is available. The Office of Executive Inspector General for the agencies of the Illinois governor publishes the newsletter as a way to stay abreast of current issues relating to ethical matters. The university’s Ethics Office website is at ethics.siu.edu/. The website contains information regarding how to file a complaint and the relevant contact information, as well as many other resources.
