Town Hall meeting video to be posted

A video recording of Wednesday’s town hall meeting to discuss potential state budget cuts will be posted at chancellor.siu.edu/budget by 3 p.m. the same day. The 9 a.m. meeting, will take place in the Student Center Auditorium, is hosted by SIU President Randy Dunn and members of the Chancellor’s Executive Planning and Budget Committee.

The dates, times and locations of the three town hall meetings are:

• Wednesday, May 6 – 9 to 10 a.m., Student Center Auditorium

• Thursday, May 7 – 2 to 3 p.m., Student Center Auditorium

• Thursday, May 7 – 5 to 6 p.m., Student Center Auditorium

WellSIU ‘Tuesday Trek’ is May 5

‘Tuesday Trek’ is at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, May 5. The 1.5- to 2.5-mile walk will begin at the Student Services Building Pavilion. In the event of inclement weather, the location will be the Student Recreation Center indoor track. If you are unsure if the location has changed, please email Brittney Pender or call the Personal Fitness and Wellness Studio at 453-1272. Research shows that walking at least 30 minutes a day can help reduce the risk of heart disease, which is the country’s No. 1 killer. ‘Saluki Watch Dawg’ May is issue is available

The Department of Public Safety’s May issue of the ‘Saluki Watch Dawg’ is available. This month’s edition includes a “SIU safety survey,” smoke-free campus reminder, final exam study hints, and commencement information. The newsletter is also available on the department’s website.


SIU Choral Union to present ‘Soul Singing’

The SIU Choral Union and guest singers from the First United Methodist Church sanctuary choir present will present “Soul Singing,” a program tracing the beginning of the concertized African-American spiritual to modern black gospel compositions, including the well-loved "Gospel Mass" by Robert Ray. ‘Workout Wednesday’ examines intellectual wellness

The WellSIU “Workout Wednesday” from noon to 2 p.m., on May 6 will focus on intellectual wellness. To learn more about the benefits of intellectual wellness, visit the Thompson Point Fitness Center in Lentz Hall. During that time, any faculty, staff or retiree will have the opportunity to use the facility for free.
