‘WellSIU’ seminar to focus on quitting smoking

The 'WellSIU' ‘Wellness Wednesday’ lunch seminar from 12:15 to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, will focus on how to stop smoking. Quitting smoking can help a person live longer and be healthier. According to The American Cancer Society, people who stop smoking before the age of 50 cut their risk of dying in the next 15 years in half, compared to those who keep smoking. The seminar will be in the Student Center’s Kaskaskia Room.


Inaugural SIU Guitar Festival is Friday, Saturday

Immigration information seminar set

Immigration attorney Nancy M. Vizer will present immigration information for students and staff during a discussion at 9:30 a.m., Nov. 13, in the School of Law’s Hiram H. Lesar Building courtroom. Topics will include tips for maintaining status, how to remain in the United States after graduation, optional practical training and permanent residence through employment.
