The Department of Public Safety’s October issue of the 'Saluki Watch Dawg' is available. This month’s edition includes information on staying safe on campus, the annual Security and Fire Safety Report, two upcoming women’s self-defense classes, domestic violence awareness and breast cancer awareness. The newsletter is also available on the new SIU Police website which was launched earlier this week.

WellSIU ‘Tuesday Trek’ set
The second ‘Tuesday Trek’ of the fall semester is set for 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 7. The 1.5-mile walk will begin at the Student Services Building Pavilion. Why walk? Walking is one of the easiest ways to get the needed exercise to stay healthy. Heart disease is the nation’s No. 1 killer, but the risk can be reduced by exercising for as little as 30 minutes each day.
