From the Chancellor

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Susan Ford, interim dean of the graduate school, will be covering the duties of provost effective Monday, August 4. I have asked her to take on this new role following consultation with key constituency groups about the characteristics they would like to see in an acting provost.

Jim Garvey, interim vice chancellor for research, will assume additional responsibilities for the graduate school, also effective on Monday.

Dr. Ford’s appointment as acting provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs and Dr. Garvey’s additional responsibilities are subject to approval of the Board of Trustees, which meets in September.

Both Dr. Ford and Dr. Garvey are experienced faculty educators and researchers who are widely respected on campus and within their fields. I look forward to working with them in their new roles.

Paul D. Sarvela
Interim Chancellor
