“Care Strategies for Patients with Trigeminal Neuralgia” by Stacey McKinney, assistant professor and senior coordinator of the dental hygiene clinic; Kelli Whittington, assistant professor and nursing program director; and Sandra Collins, professor and program director of the health care management program, was recently published by Decisions in Dentistry. The SIU researchers discuss the painful disorder, which affects 12 in 100,000 people annually, along with symptoms to watch for, treatments and implications for dental teams in order to help dental care providers have positive patient outcomes.

“Predicting the Future of the Job Market” by Bruce DeRuntz, School of Applied Engineering and Technology, was published recently by Zippia. DeRuntz spoke about current job market trends and the leading job skills to market during the pandemic.

Eric Mandat, visiting professor of clarinet and Distinguished Scholar, School of Music, recently received a 2021 Illinois Arts Council Agency Artist Fellowship Award. This is Mandat’s fourth artist fellowship award, which recognizes an artist who has created a substantial body of work throughout the career. Mandat’s specific area of focus is composing for clarinet, in solo and chamber music contexts, with an emphasis on extended performance techniques for clarinet.

“Clara Schumann: Piano Works” CD by Junghwa Lee, associate professor, School of Music, released in March, was awarded a Gold Star in the Best Piano Solo CD category on June 12 at “Music & Stars Awards,” an international online music competition in Barcelona, Spain.
